Last week I took the plunge into the ruhige Kraft workouts. With a bit of encouragement from my training partner, I sat down for 40 minutes worth of short interval workout.
It was only 6k of work in short bursts of explosion with just the right of rest. It's not like I haven't done these workout before, but it has some years since I endured. The faster I went the quicker the meters ticked away. Seems simple; it was, until rep # 11 of 20.
I started counting the strokes - 10 at a time, reduced to counting 5 strokes at a time as the lactic acid swelled in my legs. Just hold on for a few more strokes then I could rest. The rest seemed to get shorter and the pieces get longer.
I even tried my partner's strategy for one piece and only one. What was I thinking? I know better. I'll be diving in today for another ruhige Kraft workout. This one is deceptively difficult - actually they all are.
